By Heather Maloney,

Steven Moffat and the Doctor Who team have officially moved studios. For the past six years, Doctor Who has been filmed in Upper Boat Studios. Located just outside of Cardiff, Upper Boat was a studio built to primarily house the filming of Doctor Who and any future spin off series. The studio even had a canteen named the Blue Box Café in reference to the TARDIS. Unfortunately since the final episode with Amy Pond and Rory Williams has been filmed, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will not have the chance to film Doctor Who in the new studio.

Marking the end of an era, Doctor Who production moved to Roath Locke Studios last week. Also located in Cardiff, Roath Locke is the new home of BBC Drama in Wales. Not only will Doctor Who begin filming here but also other dramas such as Upstairs Downstairs, Casualty and Pobol y Cwm. The next companion, played by actress Jenna-Louise Coleman will help begin the next chapter of Doctor Who in the new studio.  Matt Smith will be continuing as the eleventh doctor and fans cannot wait for the next season to begin sometime this fall.
