While “Doctor Who” merchandise is easy to obtain in England, here in the United States it can be a bit harder to find. Whovians travel far and wide to find a local store where they can quench their need for Daleks and Cybermen. Nestled in the Englewood City Center, Bartertown Comics is a wonderful new store that carries many popular and off the wall “Doctor Who” items.
Recently opened on March 10th, 2012, Bartertown is owned by Shane Montroy. As one of the few stores to carry “Doctor Who” merchandise in the Denver area, he searches out great items and always has a new gem for Whovians who stop by. Bartertown carries “Doctor Who” comics, trade paperbacks, books, figures, magazines and even Character Building sets. An avid comic book fan, Montroy recently revealed that Tom Baker is his favorite Doctor. Because of this he not only carries modern series collectables, but also some amazing classic items as well.
In addition to their selection of “Doctor Who” merchandise, Bartertown is a great location to stop for any comic book or action figure collector. The store also hosts a Magic the Gathering tournament every Friday night beginning at 7:00 p.m. and is planning to host other game nights, a Euro game night and additional fan group meetings in the future. Montroy is also working to host artist signings in the coming year.
