Gallifrey One is an annual convention that no “Doctor Who” fan should miss. Held every February in Los Angeles at the LAX Marriott, Whovians from across the globe gather to celebrate everything “Doctor Who”. Attendees wait anxiously throughout the year for guest and activity announcements. Today was a lucky day. The first guests were announced and mainly encompassed contributors from the classic series and Big Finish audio dramas.
Philip Hinchcliffe
Commonly considered one of the greatest “Doctor Who” producers, Philip Hinchcliffe worked alongside Tom Baker from 1975-1977. He produced many fan favorite episodes including “The Ark in Space”, “Terror of the Zygons”, “Genesis of the Daleks” and “The Deadly Assasin”. He also appeared on “Doctor Who” in “The Brain of Morbius”.
Mark Strickson
As Vislor Turlough, Mark Strickson joined Peter Davison and Janet Fielding in the Tardis. He has recently reprised the role in Big Finish audio dramas with the fifth doctor. Turlough was the last male companion during the classic run of the show.
Peter Purves
Known for his extensive work on “Blue Peter”, Peter Purves portrayed William Hartnell’s companion Steven Taylor. Due to his ongoing career as a television presenter, he has also made cameos on many British television shows including “The Office”.
Nicholas Pegg
Many “Doctor Who Confidential” viewers will recognize Nicholas Pegg as a frequent guest. As a Lead Dalek Operator, he has been an ongoing contributor to “Doctor Who”. In addition to his work on the show, Nicholas Pegg is also a member of the Big Finish production team.
Nicholas Briggs
Returning for his second year in a row, Nicholas Briggs is known as the voice of the Daleks and Cybermen. A star of “Doctor Who” fandom, he worked on many projects and is currently Executive Producer of Big Finish Productions. He also played Rick Yates in “Torchwood: Children of Earth”.
Lisa Bowerman
As a “Doctor Who” actress, she has appeared on screen and in Big Finish audio dramas. She is best known as the face and voice of Bernice Summerfield. She also appeared as Karra in “Survival” and voiced Seruba Velak in “Dreamland”.
Gary Russell
As a man who has worn many hats in the “Doctor Who” universe, Gary Russell is best known as a writer. He has been editor of the “Doctor Who Magazine”, script writer for the series and even directed the animated stories “The Infinite Quest” and “Dreamland”. He writes novelizations, comic books and has been involved in Big Finish audio dramas as a producer and director.
Jason Haigh-Ellery
Returning to the convention, Jason Haigh-Ellery is an attendee favorite. He is a producer and director of Big Finish audio dramas.
Tony Lee
Fan favorite Tony Lee is returning to Gallifrey One after a year absence. He is a writer for the “Doctor Who” comic book.
Charlie Ross
Returning this year, Charlie Ross is a comedian and actor. He has recently appeared in Big Finish audio dramas.
