Whovians are gathering information in anticipation of series seven of “Doctor Who”. While grasping every rumor and released statement, fans of the show are trying to piece together what to expect in the upcoming year. Weeding though the maze of facts and fiction, here is a list of items that about this anticipated season.

Daleks are coming back

The title for the first episode of series seven was recently revealed to be “Asylum of the Daleks”. After this news, Dalek operator Nicolas Pegg stated on his twitter page, “It was an absolute blast shooting Asylum of the Daleks!” This episode will include Karen Gillanand Arthur Darvill as the Doctor’s companions Amy and Rory.

When will series seven air?

Although it was previously stated that the first episode would be premiered at Edinburgh International Television Festival in August, it was recently revealed that it will actually be shown on August 14 at London’s BFI Southbank. While no air date has been released, many Whovians believe the episode will air within the month after this screening. It has been released that series seven will begin in fall 2012 for five episodes and a Christmas special and then continue with an additional eight episodes in early 2013.

Amy and Rory leaving

Today is Amy and Rory’s second wedding anniversary and unfortunately it appears that they may not live to see the third. Love them or hate them, Amy and Rory have become a major part of The Doctor’s story. Unfortunately, their travels in the Tardis are coming to an end. They will journey with the Doctor until the final episode in the run this fall. Show Runner Steven Moffat explained that their exit would be incredibly sad and that the scenes were recently filmed in New York City and will involve the Weeping Angels.

New Companion

Jenna Louise Coleman has been announced as the Doctor’s new companion. Beginning with her appearance in the Christmas special later this year, she will travel with the Doctor through time and space. While rumors are rampant about her character’s name, no official word has yet been released.

Return of the Ice Warriors?

During ‘The 11th Hour Convention’ Matt Smith recently hinted that viewers would not have to wait long for the return of the Ice Warriors. Last seen on screen in “The Monster of Peladon” with Jon Pertwee, the Ice Warriors are a reptile-like humanoid race. As a fan favorite throughout the show’s run, they have appeared in many novels and audio stories since their last on-screen appearance.
