“Star Wars” fans are strongly involved with children’s charities. From R2-KT to the 501st Legion, many fandom groups work together to raise money and awareness for Make-A-Wish Foundation. Star Wars Celebration VI will be no exception. Held in Orlando from August 23-26, Star Wars Celebration is a gathering of fans from across the world. For the second time the event will host the “As You Wish” Charity Project.
During Celebration V in 2010, an auction was held consisting of more than 50 customized stormtrooper helmets. These creations were auctioned off to raise over $65,000 for the Make-A-Wish foundation. Hoping to continue this success, companies and groups are joining forces to raise additional funds for this amazing cause. Dented Helmet costuming group, the 501st Legion and eFx have recruited the assistance of amazing artists and studios to customize clone trooper and Boba Fett helmets for this year’s event. Fans who cannot attend the event in Orlando can still bid for these amazing helmets. While the art will be on display throughout the convention, they will be auctioned off online after the convention.
Some of the artists involved in this amazing event are:
Joe Johnston – Director of “Captain America” and original designer for Boba Fett)
Weta Workshop – FX studio for “Lord of The Rings”
Jim Lee – DC Comic Artist
Tim Proctor – “Star Wars the Clone Wars: Season One”
Alex Alva and Philip Wise – The New Wookiee workshop
