Big Finish Productions announced today that the license has been renewed which will allow them to continue producing “Doctor Who” content until December 2015. Fans of the show subscribe and download amazing audio dramas from their website to explore additional stories in the world of “Doctor Who”. Many previous Doctors such as Tom Baker, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy and Peter Davison have shared their talent to create amazing tales of the continuing travels in the TARDIS.

Being a “Doctor Who” fan in the 1990’s was very frustrating. There was no new content besides the television movie and a few comedic adaptations. That is until Big Finish Productions brought a light to the dark world of fandom. Beginning in 1998, Big Finish began creating audio dramas and books based on the licensed stories from “New Adventures”. Once they received their license to produce “Doctor Who” content, they began with a multi-Doctor story titled “The Sirens of Time”. While the main portion of their output continues to pertain to “Doctor Who”, they also produce stories about such amazing franchises as “Highlander”, “Dark Shadows” and “Robin Hood”.

On the Big Finish website, executive producer Jason Haigh-Ellery stated “I’m so excited that we can continue our voyages with the Doctor for at least another three years and so pleased that AudioGO and the BBC continue to trust us with the telling of these stories.” Executive producer Nicholas Briggs added, “It’s been a privilege and a pleasure for me to have worked on the “Doctor Who” audio range since 1999. I’m looking forward to continuing the excellent relationship we have with AudioGO and the BBC – and, of course, to the many exciting adventures for the Doctor I’ll be working on over the next three years or more.”
