Throughout months of speculation following the reveal of Jenna Louise Coleman as the new companion of “Doctor Who”, many fans and news organizations have been trying to figure out the character’s name. On Thursday, the Mirrorannounced that the new companion’s name is Clara Oswin. No official confirmation has been made by BBC or BBC America.

Fans of the popular show were saddened to find out earlier this year the world would soon see the exit of Amy Pond and Rory Williams. Expertly portrayed by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, they have been travelling with the doctor for two series. As the ‘girl who waited’ and the boy who would wait thousands of years for her, Amy and Rory have led viewers on a roller coaster of emotions. Although sometimes comical, their story is set to end tragically in this year’s fall finale titled “Daleks Take Manhattan”.

After their departure, Clara will join the doctor beginning in the Christmas 2012 special. Pictures have been released of the two filming and their chemistry seems apparent already.
