After the announcement that Disney would acquire Lucas Film last year, rumors have been swirling about who would step in to direct the next installment of “Star Wars”. When previously questioned by Entertainment Weekly, J.J. Abrams stated that he would not be directing the film. In a surprise turn of events, it was revealed Thursday that Abrams would in fact be directing “Star Wars: Episode VII”.
J.J. Abrams is a famed director known for his work in both film and television. In television he is known for amazing programs such as “Felicity”, “Lost”, “Alias”, “Fringe” and “Person of Interest. He is a producer, writer, composer and co-creator of many fan favorite franchises. Recently he received rave reviews from critics and fans alike for his reimaging of “Star Trek”. The second installment, “Star Trek: Into Darkness” is set to be released May 17, 2013.
